Driving is not for me (2 Viewers)

5 years ago, when I was few months after turning 16, I went for my G1 drivers test. For those not from Canada, the best way to explain it is a learners permit which can be obtained through a written test. Failed it twice before passing. About a year ago I went for my G2. To explain that one, it is a road test excluding highways. If I pass, I got up to the G class (which is a full license). If I fail, I stay at G1. I failed. You can only stay at G1 for 5 years before you have to renew your license, and mine is coming up on expiration. So today I went to the test centre and they told me I had to take an equivalency written test to stay at the G1 level. I failed… twice. I went home frustrated. I’m being told I should try again next weekend but I don’t want to. 5 years and 5 failed tests later just makes me wanna give up.​

I almost caused an accident too… but mine was cause I ran through a stop sign. But I need the G1 as a valid piece of ID and too many people are giving me shit for not having it yet

There is public transportation and I am able to walk most places so driving is not a necessity. However my parents want me to get my license so I can “have my independence” and they push it often and I panic. I’m nowhere near ready nor do I want to drive especially after losing a friend in a motor vehicle accident

That guy was a dick and an ass and a few other words I won't say. Like anything in life driving takes practice and patience. Telling someone to "never" get their license shows what a piece of trash they were. I wish I could take everyone of you out and teach you how to drive. My sister taught me. She wanted to be a NASCAR driver so it was fun and interesting.

When you drive you need to be an arrogant son of a bitch. No one is going to make you hurry, do something your not comfortable with, or do something unsafe. When I still had my learners permit some piece of shit ran me off the road because I was afraid and swerved out of his way. I took out a fence and broke a head light. I vowed I would never , ever, let anyone put me in that position again. Now when someone tails me I go slower, and slower and slower. Honking at me just means things are going to take longer. I've even come to a complete stop and forced people to go around. When your driving your captain of the ship and no one else. I've even told my mother to shut the hell up and let me drive. I've had 1 speeding ticket in my entire life, one cell phone ticket. Other than the minor fence incident I've never been in an accident since. Believe in yourself, know what YOU are capable of and what your CAR is capable of and do not ever, for any reason exceed those limits.

Then don't worry about them and just do you. It has to be right for you, or it will never be right at all.

I’m not capable of going behind a wheel at this time. The last time I rushed myself I made many many mistakes and it ended in crying. For some reason people think scaring me into driving is a good idea when it is very much not.

Start slow, back to the end of the drive way. Call it a day, do that until that's comfortable. End of the street, do that until it's comfortable. Soon you'll be applying for your pilots license and flying a space shuttle. I believe my sister can do anything!
