Dumbest question you've heard/seen today? (1 Viewer)

One of googles auto question options was "Does any highway run through all 50 US states?" (idk the exact wording but that was the idea). I'm just curious how this person expected a highway to run from any mainland US state to Hawaii A bridge? That would be so long and difficult. Gas stations along that road would be quite something as well, move over "Last gas station for 100 miles" signs, welcome to "Last gas station for 2473 miles" signs.

My sister(s) used to be travel agents at the same company. My older sister was planning a trip to Hawaii for a customer once and was going over flight prices and the custer said. "Those are to expensive, I'll take the train. And refused to talk about flight prices until 3 days before their trip because SHOCKING, Amtrack trains don't run to Hawaii. My younger sister was doing a trip to Hawaii (Hawaii is primarily what that company did) and when she brought up flights the customer said, "No thanks, we'll drive." and then immediately said. "OMG, I promise I'm not that stupid. I just had a brain laps." Travel agents have amazing stories. I honestly don't think the US is capable of that kind of huge project to connect all 50 states with a highway, (even if you exclude Hawaii and Alaska. Several companies have tried to do tole roads that go straight from the US to Alaska but Canada hates us and refuses to allow it.

Also I feel like that would be a very very snakey or spiraled or whatever highway, all for the big big reward of very lame bragging rights, if you can call it that. Now if you want to do it without all that you could probably name every highway (even 1 lane state highways) to a random highways number and they kind of all intersect eventually. I’m sure approximately 99.9% of the population wouldn’t be on board though, imagine the confusion. “Now turn onto highway 84.” “Which one? The left or right or straight one?” “I said highway 84!”

100% so true, states aren't exactly good at agreeing on things. It's a good thing we don't allow actual wars between states.
