But the actual reason for why there’re two is that when Virginia seceded from the US in the Civil War, West Virginia refused to and fought for the North. And after the war was over, it was enough for West Virginia to be given statehood, I they jawd some kind of argument about Virginia failing its constitutional rights or something like that
