Meet the “mad hatterpillar”. This caterpillar has a pretty odd tradition of keeping the heads it molts and stacking them on its new head. It’s thought that these could provide some safety perks. For example, it can make it harder for animals to know what to aim at. This caterpillar also has venomous spikes on its spine. Probably unsurprisingly, you can find this caterpillar in Australia and New Zealand.
