Photo Eyeball planets might exist (1 Viewer)

An eyeball planet is a theoretical planet that is believed to possibly exist somewhere. This theoretical planet would have one side facing the sun at all times and another that would always be dark. This would cause a gradient effect as one side would be either liquid or desert (depending on how close it is to the sun) and the other side would have liquid or be frozen. The gradient would cause an effect that looks like an eyeball, hence the name.

In the second photo, the part close to the star is a complete desert because it’s very close to that sun, while the back shows a little of a blue liquid. That side would be the cold

Sort of in the sense that the first has frozen solid on the darker side while this one has solid on the side close to the sun. But in the desert one it’s solid closer to the sun because all the liquid has evaporated in that area, while in the other one the dark side is solid because that liquid is frozen. So only the desert one has any area not covered in a liquid

Or is it just, like, we can't say for sure that they're tidally locked because we haven't seen them, technically?

Eyeball planets are a specific type of tidally locked planet. They need to be tidally locked but also have the very specific climate that gives the eyeball apperance. Many tidally locked planets have been discovered, but none with the climate of an eyeball planet
