This is for my K-pop Group called Fairytale, if you’d like to know more about them and their debut you can check it out here.

This thread specifically is where I will keep the short stories, interviews, updates, etc… during their debut promotions for their EP “Storybook”. Each release will get their own respective thread so it’s a little more organized, eventually I’ll create another thread as an archive for all of this so it’s easier to navigate through it all because I’m currently obsessed with this fictional kpop group.
I’m not quite sure how much I’ll be writing for their debut era but I hope to write at least a few more before their comeback.
Please remember I’m doing this all for fun, I’m not really going back checking for errors or really stressing about what I’m writing because as I said it’s all for fun and I’d like to keep this stress free. Maybe one day I’ll take it more seriously but just not yet.

The Fairytale Parade Interview

The purple black sky was just beginning to ebb away as sunlight slowly creeped up from the tall skyscrapers in Seoul. Blinding white light flashed through the SUV interior, met with the groans of Rena and Iris.

“Stella, no flash.” sighed their manager, well, one of their managers. He was driving them to their schedules today.

Stella, the culprit, cringed “Sorry.” She whispered, leaning forward to pat Iris’ shoulder as the younger member buried herself deeper under her blanket.

“How much longer?” asked Scarlett from beside Stella.

Their manager Kang Yujin, hummed softly “7 or so. I have your meals already ordered so by the time hair and makeup is done you can eat.”

Elfie, who sat in the back with Rena, peeked up from her cellphone “What’s the menu?”

“Soondubu jjigae.”

Rena made an inaudible sound of delight as Elfie only pursed her lips and returned to scrolling.

“We can maybe go out for your kind of breakfast soon.“ Scarlett said lightly, “A mountain of pancakes, ham and eggs.”

Elfie grinned “Don’t forget the pool of syrup.”

Scarlett chuckled and the car returned back to silence as they made their way through the streets.

It had been about a week since Fairytales' debut. Since then they have been going nonstop, performances, rehearsals, variety show appearances, discussions of brand deals, fan meetings, behind the scenes content…It was chaos, but their dreams were now a reality and this reality was stressful sure, but it was everything to them.

The lack of sleep wasn’t anything new necessarily but it was something on a different level when you needed to present yourself in a good light to so many people in order to do well. Last night specifically, Iris and Elfie had a variety show appearance that ran way into the morning, leaving them only an hour each of sleep.

It wasn’t long before they arrived at the studio to film the content for Hello82’s question parade. They hurriedly made their way in, waving to a few fans who seemed to have been waiting for them. Hair and makeup quickly began, your options were to either chat with the staff who were equally exhausted, scroll through your phone or sleep. All but Scarlett chose to sleep.

They were dressed in their debut stage outfits, full of warm browns, oranges and white, thankfully all comfortable outfits. Yujin was filling them in with their schedule for today as they ate their soup with steaming white rice and savory banchan.

“Sugar in rice?” Rena raised a brow at Elfie as she added a few packets of sugar and a heaping spoonful of butter into her rice. Yujin scoffed in annoyance as he was interrupted.

“It’s yummy.” Elfie nodded vigorously after taking a mouthful of the buttery sweet rice.

“Kind of like Yaksik.”

“What’s Yaksik?” Iris inquired.

“Korean sweet rice. Now, ladies-“ Yujin pressed his lips in a thin line as he waited for their attention again, only to crack a smile after the members laughed at his stiff expression.

Yujin might be their manager but the members saw him as an older, protective brother and often didn’t take him seriously. He was somewhere in his late twenties, handsome with cropped black hair and lanky build. He didn’t speak about his personal life much, really he didn’t do much but take care of the members needs with the help of their other managers and staff.

He sighed heavily and pointed at Stella “Photoshoot for that perfume as well as the interview afterwards, Lottie will go with you”. (Fairytales female manager, Charlotte) “Elfie and Scarlett will go to their rehearsal as guest MC’s, I’ll be with you. Iris and Rena will go back to the dorm to prepare gifts for Storytellers for the fan meeting tomorrow morning. Remember to film while you do that for the vlog.”

He flopped down on a creaking chair, watching their vastly different expressions. He waved a hand, “What is it?”

Rena shook her head, she made a point to keep a straight face as he went over the schedule, aware of the brief glances from her other members.

After another moment of the silent conversation among the members it suddenly dawned on Yujin what the unspoken problem was. After a week of debuting and all of the other members getting their own opportunities, Rena was the only one who had yet to be given anything. It was only natural for there to be more popular members, in this case, it was Stella with Iris and Elfie being two other favorites. Stella fit the Korean beauty standards to a T and had a playful personality. Iris shot to popularity for her duality, a fierce stage presence while offstage she was reserved and naturally cute to the public. Elfie was the funny and outgoing member. Scarlett’s MC gig was last minute and originally was meant for Iris, but after staff from the studio found out she struggled with her Korean they asked for Scarlett. The two oldest were clearly the least popular members among fans and the public.

It was the hard truth and to Yujin it was downright cruel since he knew well that the group wouldn’t be the same without either of them. He was grateful there was no jealousy among the members but there were definitely hurt feelings that he needed to keep an eye on to keep from creating problems.

“We’re ready for you.” A staff member from hello82 poked their head inside their room before quickly dashing down the hall calling other staff to the main set.

“Ready?” Yujin asked, his gaze moving over their food trays, making sure the majority of their meals were eaten. He made a mental note to tell Lottie to pick up some fruit for Stella to eat on the way to her shoot so she didn’t go hungry. He’d order food for Scarlett and Elfie, there should still be leftovers for Iris and Rena at the dorm.

He along with one of their bodyguards escorted the members to the set where they greeted the staff with bright smiles and were given the rundown of what they’d be filming by the PD. Yujin watched as the members set aside their exhaustion and filmed the content. Over time he noticed them all naturally getting their energy and enjoying themselves through the filming. Afterwards was filming a portion for the group's vlog then taking cute selfies together before they split to go to their respective schedules, acting up dramatically as if they’ll never see each other again.

The day was busy, but as promising as their debut has been, they’ll be busy for many years to come.

The Interview
(Basically I randomized the members to put them into a “line”, I then got questions from a few actual Question Parades that groups have done.

Elfie: Dreaming of sleep

Question: What would you want to tell yourself on February 15th 2024? (Official debut date)

Stella: Congratulations on your debut and good job at keeping eye contact with the camera throughout the performance. I struggle with it a lot.

Rena: She would get scolded often by our teachers because of it. She’s more confident now.

Question: How magical is this debut?

Scarlett: *Contemplates* Our debut is so magical that our song Treasure of Youth reveals to each listener the world of Fairytale.

All: Oooh!

Elfie: That’s our leader

Question: Your bias if you were a Storyteller?

*All members come to the front to sit in front of Iris*

Iris: *laughs* I’d be a fan of Iris-

Elfie: Maknae is off limits

Iris: I suppose Rena unnie then. She’s very cool and kind.

Question: Latest dance you like?

Rena: All of the members have been doing the choreo to Viviz’s sunbaenims “Maniac” lately. It’s really fun and the song is very catchy too.

Question: Send a message to Storytellers

Elfie: Our Storyteller’s, thank you so much for all your love and support for Treasure of Youth, we will continue to try and show you many great things in the future and…

Scarlett: Done?

Elfie: Yes *chuckles*

Question: A time when Elfie was embarrassing

Iris: She has a lot of those times

All: *laughs*

Elfie: It’s not your question *laughs*

Scarlett: Stella?

Stella: One time we went to a sushi restaurant that has the sushi on a conveyor belt, Elfie unnie accidentally clogged up a section after spilling a thing of sauce on it.

Elfie: She refuses to go to that restaurant now because of it.

Iris: She’s gone with me and Scarlett unnies…

Elfie: *dramatic gasp*

Rena: I don’t think you were supposed to say anything *laughs*

Iris: Oh…

Stella: We can go together again soon Elfie

Question: Your 3 attractive qualities

Scarlett: Kind, confident and a good cook

Question: What makes you cuter than Rena?

Iris: Naturally the maknae is automatically the cutest *flower pose before quickly running to the back of the line*

Elfie: *mimics throwing up sound*

Question: Something you often say to Scarlett?

Rena: “Please relax” *chuckles* She’s the oldest and our leader so she doesn’t give herself much time to focus on her own needs. She works too hard so I hope eventually she’ll be able to feel comfortable taking time for herself in the future. I can watch the kids for a little bit.

Question: The member that causes most trouble?

Stella/Scarlett/Rena/Iris: Elfie!!!!

Elfie: *shocked expression* Really?!

*silence*

Elfie: It’s how I show that I love you all

Rena: Can you love me less? Especially when I’m trying to sleep.

All: *laughs*

Scarlett: I guess Elfie is the target today *laughs*

Rena: For The rest of our promotions to go smoothly, our members staying healthy and… Fairytale to win Rookie of the Year.

Elfie: I made myself sweet rice, Scarlett lost her phone earlier and Iris got to ride shotgun today.

Question: What do you hear most often from your members?

Scarlett/Iris: Beautiful

Stella: Yes, that *chuckles*

Rena: Stella’s super pretty

Question: Your recent flex

Scarlett: *laughs*

Rena: What?

Scarlett: I bought one of those bathroom shower squeegee things that I think is neat

All: *laughs*

Stella: She really is the mom

Rena: She does like it a lot, even when it’s another member who just showered she always goes to use it on the glass section because none of us do it ourselves.

Scarlett: That’s it for this interview, we had so much fun and hope that we’ll be invited again soon.

All: Bye!!

Birth of the Swan​

The Seoul city lights lit up the midnight sky, the evening was busy with traffic, kids studying way into the morning, clubs coming alive with booming music and neon lights.

Stella lounged on the gray recliner of the apartment she shared with her four other members, fiddling with the tassels of the throw pillow she was hugging. She watched a crowd of what looked like a group of teenagers running across a crosswalk, shouting excitedly.

“What are you doing up?”

Stella jumped, swiveling to meet Scarlett’s gaze. The older girl smiled, “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.”

“It’s alright.” She paused briefly as Scarlett flopped down at the end of the sofa who smiled at her encouragingly. “I just can’t get to sleep.”

“I thought it would be Iris who would have trouble sleeping... I’m terrified I’ll mess up somehow, or forget to look at the camera, or answer one of the interview questions wrong.” Scarlett let out a heavy sigh.

Stella smiled faintly, she was afraid of all of that too. Their debut was tomorrow, well, technically in a few hours the MV will be released, in a few more hours they’ll be on their first music show, interviewed by the announcers, seeing sunbaes perform, being on a real stage in front of a crowd of fans. Somehow they have to do it all seamlessly, the pressure was on. Stella glanced at the line of photographs on their window sill, photos of her members and their family members. Stella blinked back the sting of tears furiously.

“If there’s anything else you can tell me, or if you don’t want to, that's fine too. We can watch a cheesy drama since we’re both up.”

“They’re all cheesy.” Stella groaned.

Scarlett huffed, “You just haven’t looked hard enough for the less cheesy ones. There are some solid dramas out there.”

They both met each other’s gaze and laughed before falling back into a comforting silence.

“When you all were talking about your families tonight at dinner…” Stella trailed off, biting down on her bottom lip, her vision clouding. “All I could think of was that-“ she choked on a sob “My grandma supports me debuting as an idol, but my parents…” Stella folded into herself as Scarlett squeezed her way onto the recliner to embrace her in a tight hug.

They sat that way for a while, Stella’s body quivering as she cried into Scarlett’s neck, staining her t-shirt with tears and snot. The entire time Scarlett gently rubbed her back and whispered comforting words of encouragement.

After another few minutes Scarlett broke the silence, “I know it must be hard, you have every right to feel the way you do. I wish your parents were supportive of you. But I just hope you know that you not only have your grandma who’s supporting you but also us. Stella, you've improved so much over the time that you’ve been training. You’re so important to the group and to all of us.” Now Scarlett was crying, “Our vocal line would be so empty without you, you help us with the more intricate parts of our dances, your our groups center, but most of all you as a person are amazing and you will be an amazing idol and an amazing member of this group.”

Stella wiped at her face desperately. “Thank you.” She whispered, she gasped when she noticed it was a little past 1 AM “We should really sleep.”

Scarlett nodded “We can sleep out here if you want? So we don’t wake up Elfie.” The three of them shared a room.

“Okay.” Stella sniffled. She laughed as Scarlett took her hands and shook them furiously.

“You can do this Stella, we believe in you.”

Stella must have only gotten 30 more minutes of sleep once she actually managed to drift off. She attempted a quick nap during the drive to the Inkigayo studio but her nerves were causing a stomach ache and surprisingly, Iris wouldn’t stop talking to Yujin, their manager about today’s schedule.

She put on a smile for their fans who were waiting for them outside the studio and thankfully their excited cheers and praise was a welcoming boost of energy she and her other members were dying for. She accepted a cross stitched bear from a fan site of hers, posing briefly before scurrying to follow their manager and bodyguards.

“Someone gave me money.” Elfie exclaimed in amazement and sure enough a fan did in fact give her 200 dollars, although Yujin quickly confiscated it with a tsk.

Their hair and makeup staff quickly bombarded them, they seemed just as nervous for their debut as Stella and her members were, as one stylist meticulously curled Stella’s hair as another applied gloss to her lips, she anxiously kept glancing at the screens in their room where the stage was lit and being readied for the days performances.

She breathed in deeply as her phone vibrated in her lap as her grandma sent her another update of the amount of views their music video had: 12 million in just a few hours. Stella was going to be sick.

She had been on numerous stages for ballet, traveled to different locations, performed for huge crowds and strict instructors. But this was different.

“Deep breaths.” Her hair stylist gave her shoulders a squeeze.

“Before or after I vomit?”

“Preferably just the deep breaths.” Elfie said dryly, Stella knew she meant it as an effort to make her laugh but unfortunately even Elfie couldn’t help this time.

Yujin came in after the all clear from Iris who just finished getting dressed. “You’ll be interviewed by TXT’s Yeonjun and Park Jihu for the first half.”

Everyone gasped and Stella felt sweat beading on her forehead.

Yujin blinked “You all knew they’d be the hosts.”

“Yeah but now it’s actually happening.” Rena groaned from her seat.

The interview went by in a blur, an exciting, nerve-racking blur. Stella fought the urge to stare at both Yeonjun and Jihu. When she was asked to dance a section of their chorus where they fluidly turn with large, graceful arm movements she burned red from embarrassment. As they bowed farewell to their sunbaes she gave Iris’ hand a gentle squeeze, the maknae had stumbled over her words during her part and looked like she wanted to hide forever.

Then came their performance, they were greeted with piercing cheers and screams from their fans. They were given a few minutes to interact with the crowd which took the slight edge off of Stella. But she still had to fight the urge to run backstage for another makeup check, which had been touched up multiple times already. She was paranoid something was off. Scarlett took her right hand as Iris took her left, they did their cheer which was basically chanting hwaiting and jumping up and down but it did the job of sending each other encouragement.

Stella went to her position, her back to the audience with a hand on Elfie’s shoulder. She could only hear the beating of her heart, her skin felt damp with sweat and, yep she was positive she was going to throw up.

But once the song started she found herself instinctively falling into the choreography, soaking in the cheers and fanchants, hitting her marks and singing clearly on stage, every fear and every tear shed a few hours prior from feeling so lonely was quickly forgotten. She and Rena expertly pulled off their partner section in the bridge, she met the eyes of all of her members who were equally enjoying themselves and felt truly confident in what she had just done. What they had done together. Fairytale had now officially debuted.
