Fake noses used to be so in fashion (1 Viewer)

It was an actual thing, during the syphilus epidemics in Europe. At that time, syphilus could cause your nose to fall off. Some people would choose to have a fake nose once their own fell off. Many people with syphilus couldn’t afford prosthetics of course, and some used veils or other ways of covering their face.

That's crazy man.

So if you have a fake nose and take it off, would there be a hole there?

It would have some skin grown over it probably, but I’d imagine it would be flat and probably have some kind of a scar

In the modern day, penicillin often prevents the terrible symptoms like these

In order to use the fake nose you’d need your whole original nose to be gone, and I’m not sure you want to have no regular nose

Oh and that wiggled loose a bit of book lore: The phantom of the opera wears a mask precisely due to disfigurement from disease. Which one is not stated, but it is said that he's messed up all over, and thus wears full clothing, a mask, gloves, etc. to cover it up.
