Fanfiction Fanfiction Pet Peeves (1 Viewer)

Ok, so i'm a big skz fanfic reader and i really like me some quick romance but i'm also into some meaty, angsty , delving-into-our-deepest -traumas kinda fics! But i just can't get into a story if i see fanmade stereotypes being uses on characters!!! It's just so boring...

For example:
I like abo fics, (maybe something to do with being team Jacob as a teen, or loving the team and ride or die mentality a pack has, who knows) and most often i can predict what role a character would get. But it ANNOYS ME SO MUCH, that they always give Seungmin the Beta role. Just admit you don't know what to write about him 😤 Ugh it's always the beta Seungmin , or wise Seungmin who is level headed and doesnt fight back, or Seungmin who doesnt care about romance and instead ignores the group but "secretely" takes care of all of them.

NO NO NO , It just feels like they are pushing him to the sidelines.

UGh and not even mentioning how Lee Know's characters are always the annoying possessive alpha who mistreats the new character , but then warms up to them cause he is a tsundere in fact.

ON that note i gotta admit i did read some pretty good fics too tho!

My biggest fanfic peeve is anachronistic...ism... well, the state of writing anachronistically. Like, I once (tried to) read a historically set 1D fanfic, and one of the character's names was Aria...

That name didn't even chart in the US, let alone the UK or Ireland, until like this century, and the story was set in the early 20th century... yeah, I clicked out of there reaaaaaaaaaallllllllll fast!

I don't really read them anymore but back when I did... I always hated when people warped a person's personality to something completely unrecognizable. Or overly feminized/infantilised the men. Like just make them an OC and give them a different name at that point, damn.

When they use random Korean words in kpop fanfics.
Like:
"Kajima oppa." Lisa said, grabbing Jungkook's wrist.
"Mianhae, but I have to go." he said.

And when I read a romance kpop fanfic where one of them is doing red flag stuff. That is something that bothers me sometimes.
Like when I read a fanfic that had one of them forcing a kiss on Y/N after learning that she is getting in an arranged marriage to someone else.

I can see why you would hate red flags. I hate cheating, or just toying with someone's feelings. I read a great fanfic before, that made me so mad. The main two characters (lets name A and B) were in a situationship that neither of them had the guts to get out of or confess. They had a friend ( lets say C) who falsely thought their boyfriend was cheating on him, so as revenge he (C) slept with one of the main characters (B) and the other love interest (A) heard everything, because they lived in a shared apartment. Also because C wanted their boyfriend to hear everything, but C didnt know A was there or that A and B were at the start of smth.
Then after days of hurt love interest (A) avoiding them, the friend (C) who sought revenge by having sex asked A why he was so cold. And then A fought with C and confessed everything, how used he felt, but in comes B and defends C instead, confirming A's fear that B never actually liked him but liked C secretely but couldnt get with him cause C had a boyfriend. (Ofc B just said that cause he was angry at A for screaming at C)

Did i make sense? Anyway it was not a "real relationship" but the fact that ppl disregard eachothers feelings in a fic .. it disturbs me.

Oh and the korean words.... Ugh so cringe. I once saw someone use "begopayo" instead of "I'm hungry"

Same... Some are so dumb but i still read it xD i sometimes find gems, sometimes smth to laugh about
