I love kpop fans as much as the next person. Heck, I've even dating a small few of them. But some of them do fucked up shit and I'm tired of pretending it's not a huge red flag. Sexualization of idols is amplified by companies who do things like giving minors innapropriate choreos or just going all out like PD and creating a survival show for the purpose of being quote "healthy pornography" (and yes I'm talking about Produce), but fans do weird shit too

One thing I'd like to bring up is a similar point from my "WRITERS! Stop putting freaking rape in your stories" thread
You have creative freedom, but not the freedom to write hurtful or offensive works.
I wanna see you pull your freedom card when you're being sued for defamation because you wrote a fanficttion about LeeKnow from stray kids raping someone (yes this is an actual oneshot I've ssen and despite reporting the user their account remains up)
Not only is this just obviously wrong, but you also expose young readers to this who have undeveloped minds and get desensitized to this stuff.

Now I'm gonna discuss V-Lives. For the unaware V-Live was an app where you could livestream that was mostly used by Kpop idols but it got shut down.

On idols vlives fans have said many gross things in their comments with one of the most infamous being a fan asking BangChan if he can pin them against a wall. Now Chan seemingly took it lightly and played along with it but he visibly looked flustered bc you don't just say that shit to people and if you don't believe me when Hannah Banhng (his sister) was asked the same she asked many valid questions like "How old even are you?".
Then there was an inccident where Han was fancalling a fan and she said his voice was really sexy and upon being told this Han looked really uncomfortable but tried to brush it off and take it as a compliment and the fan even had the audacity to call him baby (just so weird)
Then a fan going on a call with Hyunjin wearing what was presumably a bikini and asking him to call her mommy (as you can tell I'm totally not throwing up writing this) and Hyunjin at that moment went along with it probably seeing the implications but feeling like he was obligated to do it in order to not make a scene which is really sad .
Then more recently Felix was on a call with a fan and she asked him if he liked eating dessert before dinner. When he asked why she said quote "because I can be the dessert" DO YALL NOT HAVE HOME TRAINING? I'm sure Felix isn't interested in any dessert you're offering, weirdo. But again the idols just have to go along with it because they don't want to seem like they're making a scene or being rude. Another incident happened when Chenle was on fancall with a fan. He has expressed many times he doesn't like showing skin and we have to respect that as fans and the fan showed Chenle a picture of his abs out on stage and again he looked visibly uncomfortable but the fan couldn't give less of a fuck bc it was a funny joke. And since we're on NCT there was also a fancall of Haechan where the girl on the fancall asked Haechan to roleplay as a groom taking the veil off the bride's head and he again went along with it despite being visibly uncomfortable bc that's just what's expected of him. And I don't wanna begin to get into others but it general this behavior isn't ok and is bordering on sexual harassment in my eyes and should no longer be tolerated by the idols

like most things remember the toxic fans are but a small minority

the silent majority is often drowned out by the vocal minority

it's always the most problematic that create the most waves...you never hear about the "good" fan - the fan that enjoys their favs in peace and quite - that don't need to make a million tweets attacking (or defending) their favs...they buy their albums stream to their songs watch their content etc etc they don't need to make a ruckus online...it's always the problematic ones that we hear about because it's noteworthy - it's drama it's newsworthy

and that doesn't just apply to kpop but literally every other hobby/ sport/ activity etc etc
