Favorite Hogwarts Great Hall scenes? (1 Viewer)

Welcome to another one of my lovely REVIEWS @dubudae

In the HP series, the Great Hall was basically a giant room in Hogwarts Castle where everyone gathered to eat, hold ceremonies, special events, balls, xyz. The hall was lit with floating candles and the ceiling mimicked the sky outside. You can visit the set in real life, and even dine there within a small timeframe in December. I'd go, but I'm not rich.

Moving on.

The Sorting Ceremony is the first scene we see in the Great Hall. It's a very iconic scene and pretty much sets the atmosphere. McGonagoll directs a bunch of tiny students to the front of the hall where several other professors, Dumbledore, and the Sorting Hat await to sort the new arrivals. Each students gets their turn, not in any particular order but more for dramatic effect when it gets to Harry's turn. Once the students are all sorted in their houses, the Start-of-the-Term feast begins with lates of food magical appearing.

Gross Fact: These scenes took days to films. For the earlier movies, the director wanted to use real food. The actors were told not to touch the food and the food would be left to sit overnight while filming went on for days. By the third or fourth day, the hall would smell like rotting food. >.> For the later films, they made molds of the food so no one had to suffer any longer for these scenes.

The Triwizard Tournament is is introduced in the great all with a feast and welcoming of the two other participating schools. In my opinion, parts of these entrances are a bit cringey. The Beauxbatons Academy of Magic make their entrance first, sashaying their way in an interesting totally not cringeworthy manner. I'm more entranced by their Headmistress, Madame Olympe Maxime, who towers overs everyone and still looks very elegant. The Beauxbatons' entrance ends with a few twirls and acrobatics.
Next to make their entrance are the student of Durmstrang Institute. Their entrance is filled with more rough acrobatics, stomping, and overtly masculine energy >.> They look angry at every corner. Honestly, wouldn't wanna mess with them.

Other scenes include every ball that follows the same school dance, prom, homecoming, gala format. All the students dress up elegantly and enjoy delicious food, music, and dancing. A break from regular class activities and assignments. Although, a lot more capes.

I think my favourite scenes would be anything to do with the sorting hat . I loved the hat’s personality as it sorted people lol 😂
