favorite vocal seconds? (1 Viewer)

Vocal Second is totally just a term i made up, but i'm using it in reference to lead vocals in groups where the main vocals blow everyone away so often that they, sadly, often get overlooked and overshadowed even though they're also super good singers.

two of my fav Vocal Seconds are:

this woman is straight-up a powerhouse, but people generally just fawn over solji's powerhouse vocals.

SEULGI FROM RED VELVET



also a goddamn powerhouse, but people generally just pay attention to wendy's vocals.

note: the point of this post is not to say main vocals like solji and wendy are overrated, just that it's a shame that the lead vocals are also so strong. like they aren't leagues behind the ridiculously accomplished main vocals but don't get nearly as much appreciation for their singing! and if you give your own opinions you don't have to use my stupid made-up term lol

EXO- Kyungsoo, Idk if he's main but people focus more on Chen and Baek, who are excellent of course.
BigBang- Daesung. I think most people agree he sounds better than Taeyang.
NCT- Jaehyun, one of my favorite vocal tones in Kpop.

For girlgroups:

Oh My Girl- Yooa/Binnie. Both have a very distinctive voice and can SING, but Hyojung/Seunghee are powerhouses lol.
GFriend- Eunha, very sweet and pretty voice. Her collab with VIXX's Ravi for the Pepsi CF this year is great.
Mamamoo- Wheein has my fav voice in the group.
Red Velvet- Seulgi
IZ*ONE- Eunbi/Yujin/Chaewon
CLC- Seungyeon and Sorn.

Pristin's Eunwoo before their disbandment. She was one of three main vocals but still mainly got lead vocal parts, and there weren't really many 'main vocal' parts to begin with anyways, so I guess that's just one of the issues of being in a large group. Yehana was the only one of the main vocals that I felt actually got to be a main vocal. Eunwoo is finally getting to shine after Pristin V and in Hinapia now though, i'm so happy for her!
