Fifty Fifty's Message of Love, [Love Tune]
As the activities for [Love Tune] were coming to a close, I met with Fifty Fifty to reflect on the time we’ve spent together so far. We gathered in one place and shared memories of our first meeting, the emotions we felt when we first heard the new album, and the cheers we heard when we stepped onto the stage. Here are the messages of love directly from Fifty Fifty.

1. [RSK] You wore a comfortable robe for a pajama party, and you also took the stage in a flowy dress with lots of decorations. How was the photoshoot with Rolling Stone Korea?

Kina: I was happy to be able to try out various concepts through Rolling Stone Korea. The staff created a relaxed atmosphere at the photoshoot, so I think I was able to try a lot of things more freely.

1. [RSK] Can you reveal something that’s being shared for the first time through Rolling Stone Korea?

Mun Chanel: When I was younger, I attended a school where I spoke both German and English!

1. [RSK] When did the members first meet? Can you describe the scene for us?

Yewon: It was this spring after the members were confirmed. We met for the first time at the company, and I remember we greeted each other shyly. It’s still a vivid memory. (laughs)

1. [RSK] How did each of you join the group?

Hana: I’ve always had the dream of becoming a singer, and one day I realized I wanted to become an idol. So, I auditioned for the Attract audition, and after practicing and passing the end-of-month evaluation, I was honored to join Fifty Fifty.
Mun Chanel, Yewon: We had been on the audition program Are You Next, and that’s how we were contacted by the company for a meeting. After several meetings and auditions, we joined the company and were able to join Fifty Fifty after more evaluations.
Athena: I urgently auditioned through an introduction from an acquaintance. After passing practice and the end-of-month evaluations, I debuted with the members as part of Fifty Fifty.

1. [RSK] After joining Fifty Fifty, I’m sure many things around you have changed. What do you think has changed the most?

Hana: The biggest change for me has been the people around me. It’s reassuring to have members who feel like family. Also, living each day to the fullest has given my life a new energy, and I feel incredibly happy!

1. [RSK] Now that the [Love Tune] activities are coming to an end, do you have any memorable episodes from this time?

Athena: The most memorable moment for me was hearing the support from the Twenys during our first music show. The cheering was so loud, it even came through our in-ears! Hearing that cheering really energized me, and I was so happy to perform the first stage with the members.

1. [RSK] How did you feel when you first heard all the songs from [Love Tune]?

Mun Chanel: I was so moved when I first heard the songs, I ended up crying. I was thrilled at the thought that I could sing such great songs and perform on stage!
Yewon: I couldn’t believe that the songs were ours. I honestly felt really emotional. All the moments I had been chasing after my dream passed through my mind, and I couldn’t sleep because I was so happy. I remember listening to the demo all night long the day I first heard it.

1. [RSK] Since [Love Tune] is a song about love, what is a recent moment that made your heart race?

Athena: I think the memory that stands out the most was performing for the first time at the showcase. I was really excited then.
Kina: Recently, I performed at the 2024 Super Pop Japan concert in Japan. Singing our songs on such a big stage and covering the stages of amazing seniors... just being in that space itself made my heart race.
Hana: The first time we performed Push Your Love during our media showcase is what comes to mind. That was the first time I heard the cheers of the Twenys, and I couldn’t stop smiling on stage. (laughs)

1. [RSK] What brings you joy in your daily life outside of music activities?

Athena: I enjoy eating and spending time alone. I also love pursuing my hobbies.
Mun Chanel: I really enjoy collecting LPs and making playlists. Oh, and I also love watching movies!
Kina: I love trying out different foods, so I order various delivery foods and make my own list of favorite places. That’s my hobby these days.
Yewon: I think I’m someone who loves the small joys in life. I’m happiest when I go to my favorite café after work and start the day with a coffee. After work, I love listening to R&B and hip-hop while taking a half-body bath. The stress from the day melts away during the bath.
Hana: I feel joy in many little moments: playing around with the members, coming home to find a package at the door, calling my parents, and walking in the sunlight...

1. [RSK] I’m curious about each of your tastes. What kind of music do you listen to, what books do you read, and what movies do you love?

Mun Chanel: I try to listen to all genres! Recently, I’ve been reading books on self-identity to gain wisdom. I like all kinds of movies, but especially those with beautiful colors, interesting plots, and plot twists.
Kina: When I’m working on music, I often listen to R&B or hip-hop. When I want my mind to relax, I listen to ballads and reflect on the lyrics. I also enjoy reading detective novels and poetry. I like action movies and thrillers.
Hana: I generally like all kinds of music, but if I had to choose, I listen to a lot of jazz and indie music, and sometimes hip-hop. I enjoy reading novels, self-development books, and humanities books slowly.
Athena: I listen to almost every genre of music. If you turn on my playlist, you’ll hear classical music, then suddenly punk or rap will come on. (laughs) I usually read romance books, and when I watch movies, I prefer action or documentary genres. I also watch a lot of animated films rather than live-action ones.
Yewon: I listen to a variety of genres like R&B, hip-hop, J-Pop, pop songs, and K-Pop, but R&B and hip-hop are my favorites. I love reading essays, especially when I’m too busy to focus on myself. Whenever I read a sentence that resonates with me, it helps me clear my mind and gives me the strength to keep going. As for movies, I love romance, comedy, Disney, Ghibli, and healing films. I’m too scared to watch horror or violent movies.

1. [RSK] Do you remember the exact moment when you dreamed of music?

Hana: I’ve always said I can’t live without music. Singing has always been the happiest moment of my life, and it was natural for me to dream of music as I grew up. So when I’m asked about it, I joke and say, “Since I was born!” (laughs)
Kina: It was probably in third grade when I went on stage at school. I can’t forget that exhilarating feeling. I think that’s why I’m where I am today.
Mun Chanel: I’ve loved music since I was young and always watched the stages of various singers. I’ve always wanted to be a singer. Whenever I watched idol performances or American pop singers performing, I always thought, “I want to be on stage too!”
Yewon: I’ve always loved dancing and singing since I was a child, so I always thought I would become a singer. But realistically, I was a student, and I thought it would be very difficult to become an idol. As I grew older, I secretly held on to the dream of becoming a singer. Then, one day, I found myself preparing for a stage during festival season. That’s when I realized, “I’m really serious about this dream.” I thought, “If I choose a job later, I should work in a field that allows me to be on stage, or I’ll regret it.” I think it was in high school when I had that realization. One day, a friend cried after hearing me sing at the festival, and I felt that my voice had power. That moment confirmed that I had to pursue this long-held dream.
Athena: I’ve dreamed of music since I was first exposed to it, so I’m not sure of the exact moment.

1. [RSK] If you hadn’t joined Fifty Fifty, where do you think you would be right now?

Kina: I think I would have been learning about fashion, or maybe acting.
Mun Chanel: I think I would have been attending university and studying science!
Yewon: No matter what I was doing, I think I would have still had the dream of being an idol. Before joining Fifty Fifty, I had failed an audition program and decided to focus on university exams. I didn’t have much time to prepare, but I got lucky and passed. Now I’m on a good path toward my dream!
Hana: I would have been studying in college. But it wasn’t easy for me to choose a major, so I would have been wandering in a lot of different fields.
Athena: I might have been at home, working, and spending my days doing a lot of thinking, just like I used to.

1. [RSK] We’re now at the point where you’ve gained attention from fans all over the world. How do you feel about that?

Yewon: It’s honestly still hard to believe that we’ve gained such love from fans all over the world. We feel so grateful and are excited to continue doing our best in return for their support. We will work harder to meet their expectations.
Hana: I feel like we still have so much to show. As we meet more fans in different parts of the world, we feel more determined to keep growing and improving.
Kina: It feels like a dream! Our fans’ love is an incredible gift, and it’s something I always hold onto when I’m feeling tired. It’s amazing that our music can resonate with people from different cultures.

1. [RSK] Looking forward, what are your plans and dreams for the future?

Athena: I want to keep growing as an artist. I hope we can put out more songs that represent our hearts and have even more opportunities to connect with fans worldwide.
Mun Chanel: We want to keep doing what we love and expanding our horizons. We also want to be artists that leave a lasting impact on the music scene.
Yewon: We’re aiming to keep improving and achieving bigger milestones. I hope we can perform on more stages and continue to show different sides of ourselves.
Kina: Our ultimate goal is to become artists who can perform in front of bigger audiences globally. I also hope that our music will bring people together and allow us to share our joy with as many people as possible.
Hana: I want to be someone who’s always evolving. I want to continue trying new things, both as an artist and as a person. My dream is to be able to perform and share our music with even more fans around the world.
