The state
Just to be clear. I’ve done Nevada and New Mexico so far for US states
Quick summary: they’re all confederate. Georgia has had 7 official flags, and every one has either the confederate battle flag or the national confederate flag as part of the design. Or both. In 1956, Georgia even adopted a flag with the confederate battle flag as a symbol of defiance against the desegregation that was happening then. Yikes
Now I’ll talk about the current Georgia flag:
The red and blue layout is from the first National confederate flag, also known as the stars and bars. The 13 stars represents that Georgia was one of the 13 colonies. In god we trust is the US motto. The whole yellow part is Georgia’s coat of arms. The arch is the state constitution. The pillars are the 3 branches of government. “Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation" are Georgia’s motto. The figure is dressed like a soldier of the American Revolution.
