People want action done and understandably so and some of the places targetted made sense to target in response however it seems like some were just random and the random places are the ones which shouldn't have been involved and was probably from people wanting to wreck havoc be it just because they saw a chance to or for a hidden agenda

No.
Do I blame the rioters for rioting?
No.
Do I think they shouldn't be rioting?
No, I would be do if I was in their place.
Do I wish they didn't have the... NEED to riot?
With my whole heart.

Rioting is the last option.
All others have been exhausted a long time ago.

I don't agree with the rioting, and some people do take advantage to loot, I agree. But I can see why it's reached this point. This is never the first step people take, but every other option has failed and this resentment and anger eventually builds and reaches a point where it explodes. This isn't just the George Floyd situation, but everything that has built up to this point.

I don't agree with looting and burning of places, especially of small businesses and affordable housing. But I understand why it is happening. For years people have done peaceful protest to bring awareness or urge the powerful to action: when Trayvon was killed people wore hoodies and carried bottles of Arizona and packs of skittles, Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the national anthem, the cast of Hamilton tried to bring the issue to the Vice President's attention after a show, etc.

But people still keep dying at the hands of police and the officers involved are given loose sentences or none at all. It's become prolific in the nation and people are tired. The stuff can be replaced but those who were murdered can't be brought back.

Also, the only thing I can find on a looter being shot is this and in this article the shop was not burned down but damaged and the owner killed the man which is why he is in custody.

id like to first start out with the fact that the black lives matter movement has been peacefully protesting for years at this point. the media wants you to think that they only riot and vandalize but that simply isn't true. the police department and the government had this coming and they escalated the situation.

first of all like you said it isn't all black and white. I don't think anyone wanted this to become a riot. the protestors for George Floyd peacefully protested at first and were teargassed, mased, and shot at with actual bullets and rubber bullets. there's even video of the police shooting an actual bullet at unarmed protester in the leg despite there being no actual reason to. there is a whole thread on twitter here that showcases the entire protest on video including the police doing stuff like this.


now while this was happening many victims who were teargassed and hurt attempted to go over to the target near them to buy things like milk, water etc and the target refused to sell to them despite them being hurt. it was also hard for ambulances to get to the scene of people who had been hurt because they were being blocked off, so people had to physically get in their cars to go to the hospital despite being hurt. now this target, in particular, has also been funding the Minneapolis police department for years so that also played a big roll in the looting and riots.

now on to the riot itself. I've already explained why the target, in particular, was looted but there was also another big reason. The media shows you the “rioters” looting target but what they DON’T show you is the reason they originally went to target. The protesters used carts, TVs and other large items to build a barrier between themselves and the police to prevent getting shot at, they are literally trying to protect themselves.

many of you have also seen burning buildings and such. this is also something that's very iffy. there have been undercover cops exposed at the riot who were vandalizing buildings and escalating situations to make the protestors look bad. the fires are still something that's being investigated but many people are sus about the police committing those acts because they've done this multiple times before. the police abused the protestors and escalated situations farther. they're the ones at fault and should be held accountable. you cant even protest anymore in this country if your views don't align with your local police department. I don't think I've seen any rioters saying that the burning and rioting of small businesses was okay. but there are always going to be people who take advantage of situations like these for their own greed and we as a society have to not generalize based on the actions of those people.

but anyways, a lot of other misconceptions is that the rioters looted target for themselves, and for their own greed, this isn't true. a lot of people were seen the next day giving the things they looted back to lower-income families and giving to the protestors who were protesting again that day. they were also seen organizing clean up projects where the riots took place.

there is so much more to this situation but this was a basic rundown on what has happened. the rioting was expected. you oppress black people and other people of color and kill them every day, you give police to much power, you ignore the peaceful protests and cries for help... then this is what you get. if this is how we're gonna get attention to this problem that has been infesting this country since the beginning, then so be it.

I should mention, your original post is a lie. A man was murdered by a shop owner. The shop is vandalized but still standing, the shop owner's OTHER pawn shop was burnt to the ground.

The shop owner is a 59 year old white man from Wisconsin. He marketed his shop as a pawn shop and hip-hop jewelry store. It's too soon to call the man he shot a looter, but even if he was, state law is clear that store owners have a duty to retreat and cannot use deadly force unless the lives of employees are directly threatened. He murdered a man over jewelry. Property is never more important than human lives, ever.

You said someone's life was ruined, I assume talking about the shop owner. How about the life that was lost? The man murdered by a rich white guy over some chains?
