By law, any Icelandic horse that leaves Iceland has to stay out. This is because they want to maintain a strict breed standard. There are no other kinds of horses in Iceland, so the only way to be bred with other horses is if the horse leaves the country. Of course there are Icelandic horses around the world. But none of those horses can ever return
