Africa has a large and varied population of gazelles and other grazing creatures. Because of this the Gerenuk, which looks similar to a deer, has adapted to be able to stand in its hind legs, allowing it to reach the scrubby trees that other herbivores tend to be unable to reach and giving it a more reliable food source.
