Fun Fact of the Day #69 (1 Viewer)

[Ahsoka]

Bananas are unable to reproduce. Every banana of a variety is a clone of the other one. This is because bananas hybrids that are unable to produce seeds which is part of what makes them a good fruit to eat (more specifically, they are a type of berry). This also makes them susceptible to diseases because they are unable to develop defenses. All the bananas of the Gros Michel variety, which was the previous favorite variety of banana, has already been fully wiped out, and at some point the Cavendish, which is the current favorite, may also be wiped out.

Appreciate bananas while you can

adding on to the mass banana extinction thing: the reason why nana flavoured stuff doesn’t really taste like bananas is because the variety that the flavour was based on got wiped out
