In WW1, there was a ship salvaged by Germany. It was an ocean liner, and the Germans wanted to disguise it as a merchant ship that the British had in service, the Carmania, so it could sink unsuspecting British ships. They made it look identical, and it set sail on its first voyage. However, the first ship it came across noticed that it was a fake, and sunk it immediately. How did they know it was fake? Well, it just happened that the first ship they came across recognized that they weren’t the real Carmania because the first ship they came across was the real Carmania
