GIDLE’s first ALL english album. Thats right, every song is in english and promoted for English speakers.
I DO is good but not my cup of tea. Very americanized but very good vocals as expected from good ole GIDLE. But again, a little too slow for me I think. Its one of those songs you play on a long summer drive, but I dont have a car so…. Love the instrumental on this though. Very chill.
I Want That is the dangerous, sexy GIDLE we all know them for. The “dont touch me or I’ll shoot you” vibe and yes girlcrush is super popular but GIDLE perfected it in my opinion. They know what they do best and they refine it every time. Miyeon’s pre chorus is heavenly, let her sing more please. Chorus is kinda whatever but I think overall the dark, dangerous mood of this song is more than enough.
Eyes Roll I heard about a lot. Its again the girlcrush mood with the lyrics, but as cheesy as something like this can get especially in english, GIDLE actually nailed this song! The melodies and harmonies on this song are very good and english rap parts also really good. Shoutouts to production. The song has it all.
Flip It is GIDLE’s trap song lol. I mean literally, its American rap personified we are no longer in kpop territory or even in Korean territory. Its catchy to some extent but nothing something I would listen to. It has a surprising Miyeon singing pre-chorus section which is an interesting choice for a rap song. Again, catchy, might be good as background music. GIDLE seems to know their American rap counterparts.
Tall Trees is back to sleepy pop land. Its decent there’s a nice mellow sound to it. The lines of kpop and American pop starts to blur in this album. Is it technically still kpop? Idk. Does it matter? No. But this song is elevated by the sweet honey voices of GIDLE. Wont really go back to this one, but I appreciate it.
