You might have heard of this already, it's all over youtube, but there is currently popular charity project started by youtubers MrBeast and MarkRober to raise 20 million dollars before 2020 to plant 20 million trees via non-profit organization. 1 dollar equals 1 tree in this project. Lot of other youtubers have hopped to this charity project including Pewdiepie, jacksepticeye, tryguys, FineBros etc. The charity project began on 25th October and has collected over 6 million dollars so far.

I find this idea pretty good, and i was happy to hear that the project plans to plant trees across the globe not just one region. And the one dollar per one tree is pretty cool, you know what you get when you donate. I'm not sure how much this rly will help with climate change, and I'm not most egological person myself.. but the idea of trees and me making one happen was cool enough to chime in xd

This might come as promoting this, but honestly i'm more interested what others thoughts are on this and if they have donated to it? ^^;

I haven't donated but now that I know about it I will, I do want to look more into the exact specifics of it though since I'm becoming interested in climate change recently but I want to do my own research.

Yes, i'm also skeptical with lot of climate change stuff. Not that I don't believe it being real thing, but rather different ways to combat it that have been proposed and not thinking through what impacts they might have in society (politicians in my country have proposed all kinds of wild ideas like putting tax on meat) ^^; So i did think about this tree project a bit too and honestly I don't rly know if the impact will be that much on climate change- I just like the idea of planting trees

I'm not skeptical of it so much as just wanting to be informed myself rather than going off what people day, since everyone has an agenda. I can see what putting a tax on meat could do though since the meat industry does in some ways contribute to the problem, not to mention the ethical problems relating to it.

I'm skeptical of many proposals and ways to tackle it since i find them short-sighted and not thinking consequences of the changes.

Meat industry does contribute, but flying quinoa to replace meat that is harvested by kids who are paid next to nth from another continent is not going to make world the better place. Not even mentioning how devastating rising of prices could be to low-income families who cannot afford proper vegatarian diets I'm student of social politics so for me I always start thinking what these changes would mean socially especially for those who cannot afford to pay more ^^;

Yeah its definitely not the only issue, but people want easy solutions rather than doing it all at once. Which I agree is tempting when writing a paper and you want to look like you did some work without trying, but it doesn't work with irl stuff that easily yeah.

Social politics sounds really cool, Ive been getting more interested in social and political type stuff recently, though I know i would be terrible at it
