Voice actor agency Aoni Pro announced on June 30 that Yohei Azakami, who is currently playing Guel Jeturk in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, was tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the agency, Azakami felt ill on the night of June 29, so he visited a hospital on the following day and underwent a PCR test, which turned out to be positive. He is currently recuperating at home under the guidance of the medical institution. As a result, he will not be available for event appearances during his recuperation period.
He wrote on Twitter, "The symptoms are relatively mild! I will make every effort to recuperate so that I can return in perfect condition!"
He was scheduled to join the release event for the Gundam Witch anime's Blu-ray first volume at the Animate Ikebukuro Store and the live-streaming program on YouTube on July 2. However, the anime's official Twitter has announced that he has cancelled both appearances.
