I’ve been dealing with this symptom again lately and I’m pretty just waiting until it goes away. I also get it whenever I have a bad panic attack.

Please tell me to I’m not the only one who has gone through this. It’s awful and it’s so hard to explain to most people :lazypotato:

when i was at my lowest i struggled with really bad derealization for about a year too. it felt like i was watching everything happen from a far corner in the back of my head, so surreal. i remember bumping into things, pinching myself, touching things, but every sensation felt distant somehow ? like i could feel the pain, but it couldnt reach me cause my body felt so strangely foreign. it felt like nothing was real and nothing mattered, so why bother trying. not so funny story, i actually failed my first semester in college & got fired because of dissociation lmao crazy how our brains are capable of taking incredibly complex measures to protect ourselves from stress and trauma, but somehow it always backfires and makes things worse :pandashrug:

anyway what im trying to say is you're not alone, so hang in there and take care of yourself, it gets better <3 :kissycat:

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. It's so hard to explain this feeling to people I know in real life, so this really does help me feel less alone :nekolove:

It is real alright and it borders on impossible to explain it to people in real life since they might deem it as you making excuses for "being lazy" and that "you'd rather daydream than get things done".
As someone who feels a lack of worth when I find myself being unproductive due to any circumstance really, it hits hard.
As @/Soogi explained really well, you do feel completely distant from your surroundings and it's a constant state of "numbness" that usually lasted for hours for me, in the evening especially.
It's typically inactive and you feel very unmotivated to carry out the tasks you're supposed to carry out for the day, and this "fogginess" can even go to the extent of making everything look like an image with too much contrast; reality feels more like a lucid dream to the point it's difficult to figure out whether an event happened in a dream or in reality.
I personally do not suffer from it as much, as I tried some coping mechanisms that helped me out in being more in tune with my surroundings.
A cold shower, counting the objects in your room, focussing on your breath, or anything of the sort that can snap me into reality. More demanding physical work helps too. One should always get the requisite amount of sleep or it's likely to be a lot for an extended phase as well.

It's a horrible feeling, hope you can get rid of it soon~

Yeah, it usually happens when I’m alone in the silence with nothing but my thoughts. Makes me feel like shit
same here :lazypotato: it's not a good coping mechanism but I try to have music playing constantly to escape that silence :we_kpopsourcing:
