Has anyone ever dealt with mites? (1 Viewer)

If so, how did you destroy the little buggers??
I currently have 8 chicks that are my new roomies (only until it gets a bit warmer). And the night they arrived I quickly noticed that I was being woken up by these very painful stings that I assumed was a single bug somewhere in my bed… Days have gone by and through research (*cough* Google) I and my mom have determined that the chicks most likely brought in mites… We’re treating with DE (Diatomaceous Earth), I’m also constantly cleaning my bedding, vacuuming constantly, but the mites are out for my flesh, and ONLY my flesh, nobody else in my household has any bites on them. I wish I could explain the amount of itchiness I constantly feel and at times lots of pain (specifically at night), there have been a few nights where I’m woken up by the fiery itchiness. I use a gel to help ease it slightly when the bites get really irritated but I’m continuously getting more bites each day, I’m not exaggerating but I probably have close to 50 bites on me currently.
Please tell me one of you has some tips

These first two pictures I took in the very beginning, they’ve both grown and usually look more irritated than what’s shown here.

This is a picture from today, this is probably my worst collection of bites, this isn’t even what it looks like when It’s really inflamed, many more spots will appear. And as you can see the bites will often make the skin around it turn red. It’s pretty painful to wear shoes at times. Ignore my ugly feet

Steam clean rooms where the chicks have been, especially if theres like carpets and even try with mattresses. Wash all your bedding in hot water, separate from anything that didn’t come in contact with mites.

Try a natural coop mite spray. Here is one that might work:

Edited to add: bathe with lots of soap, and get a topical antihistamine or take an oral antihistamine. You can also look into lidocaine burn gel, that can numb the area if it's too sensitive.

Unfortunately I don’t have anything to steam it with but I’ll definitely try shampooing my carpet, I didn’t even think about that.

I think the gel I’m currently using is a tea tree gel I’ll look into that spray thank you.

Unfortunately I don’t have anything to steam it with but I’ll definitely try shampooing my carpet, I didn’t even think about that.

Mites and other creepy crawlers love to hide in carpets and other fabrics because it’s easy to cling onto. It seems they also are not big fans of the heat so that’s why I suggested steaming/shampooing the carpets with warm/hot water and steam

If you have any clothes laying out I would wash those too. It's a hassle, but they hide in clothing as well. Mites (Or any bugs) don't like peppermint scents, so if you have any I would recommend spraying it on/around your bed and maybe even on your body if it's a perfume.
