Has anyone (wrongly) assumed your background? (1 Viewer)

Most ppl who meet me 1st time can rightly tell wat my background is, based on setting/place/country of meeting(assuming im not out of my normal geographical zone) since i dont look korean or japanese or others, theres mostly only 1 background most ppl would guess. N usually correct.

Well... if I'm in a foreign country, then I don't think people can guess correctly where I'm from.

I remember when my family were thought to be Russian, because that person thought my native language sounded like it.

But one time, I was in a makeup store in my native country, and the person working there thought I was a foreigner and spoke English to me.
She told me that the reason was because my shoes, that were bought in Poland, made me look foreign.
Well... I was also wearing a backpack, which I think would make me look more like a tourist.

There was that one time in the supermarket that someone was talking to me in Arabic. I had no idea she was talking to me until she pointed at me. I nodded no because I don’t speak Arabic. She probably assumed I was an Arab.

Why does that make me want to find innocent people and speak foreign languages at them to confuse them

i don't interact with enough people outside of my country to have that happen to me tbh
