No hate to either group of course! Both are wonderfully talented and deserve the fame!

But what do you all think?

always liked gfriend, last year i got super into oh my girl for similar reasons: i love the members themselves a ton and i love how talented they are even if their music is hit or miss for me (though i did hope OMG's next releases follow their new image instead of their old concepts, but now with WM being bought by RBW i'm not so sure and kinda worried because all in all i liked WM's management even if not their music as much).

Gfriend started going down a spiral after Fingertip (Koreans didn't like the concept even though the music sounded the same as always), not being able to chart well, have much public presence etc (though their fandom power stood steady) and they only started recovering from just recently when bighit bought source music and they reinvented themselves again and their sales, presence and charting improved a little bit, but the Korean public hasn't warmed up to them again just yet.

Oh My Girl on the other hand has been on an all time high having one of the best selling girl group (or overall) singles of the year in Korea in 2020 as well as the 2nd best selling bside of all time in MelOn with Dolphin (#1 being BTS' The Truth Untold...unless they already dethroned it, i'm not sure), so that's an easy answer.

Depends on what metric you are judging them by, if you go by digitals they get nowadays then you'd have to go back as far as Time For The Moon Night to find anything notable from Gfriend while Oh My Girl had both Nonstop and Dolphin do very well.

The second metric you could use though is physicals and Gfriend have outsold even Oh My Girls best selling album Nonstop with almost every single album since their Navillera album LOL with only their repackage album Rainbow selling less.

This way would say that Oh My Girl has the lead on digitals and Gfriend the lead on physicals but Gfriend have stagnated on their physical growth so there's opportunity for Oh My Girl to be able to take advantage of the growing physical market and surpass Gfriend in physicals as well however only time will tell if that actually happens.

Oh My Girl popularity n sales has grown in 2020 n 2021, while Gfriend has stopped growing/reached its peak so far. But even so i think Gfriend still has a lot of dedicated fans as 2020 album sales are in the 80,000s or 90,000 whereas 2020 Oh My Girl at 50,000s(not linked/posted here,)

To me this says Gfriend still has tens of thousands of fans but stopped adding/adding slowly. While Oh My Girl has tens of thousands of fans n is adding faster. It makes sense if 80,000 or watever number bought tat much, is harder to add to than 50,000 or however many bought tat much.
Tat was 80,000/90,000 each of 3 mini/full album compared to 50,000 of 1 mini-album. I dint research total physical/digital sales in the 5 minutes i took to type this.

Its cyclical trend, in my opinion-while i would love Oh My Girl to hit 100,000 sales for next release(s), im waiting to see if it fits the expectations of the awaiting fans/casuals. I will love their release anyhows. (I think from my limited understanding, 2020-2021 top ggs are bp, twice, rv, mamamoo, izone, itzy then maybe gfriend n oh my girl but depends on criteria for rank-not including just march 2021-april 2021)
