Has Taeyeon surpassed Boa? (2 Viewers)

I didn't get into K-pop until early 2014, so I'm honestly not too sure about just how big/popular Boa was in her prime. Obviously I know how much Boa was (and is) loved by a lot of older K-pop fans. I also know how Boa has influenced some of the idols today.

I only really know about and feel Taeyeon's influence, when comparing to Boa. The reason being is that whenever I see someone asking about who the Queen of K-pop is, they name either Taeyeon or IU (between the two, IU is probably named more though). And this is a recurring theme since 2014. A lot of girl idols that debut also talk about their influence being SNSD, with some even mentioning Taeyeon. This is also quite a common theme since I got into K-pop.

Given where K-pop is at right now, and how active and popular Taeyeon still is, along side SNSD still being one of the most popular GG's, I'd say Taeyeon has surpassed Boa. In terms of influence anyway, so I guess Taeyeon is more of a Queen lol.

I won't get into who is more of a queen between Taeyeon and IU though, as that's impossible to say.

I got into kpop in 2010-2011 but by that time I knew who BoA was through Jpop. When I say BoA was at Namie Amuro level in Japan I meant it, like I thought she was Japanese at first. How many korean artists were singing anime ost at that time? mind you, to sing an anime ost (a very popular one) you had to be at the top of the mountain back then.

I remember too! Got into Jpop early 2000s. BoA, Hikki, Namie and Ayu were considered as one of the biggest Artists back then.

Boa is history, and established began the rise of Kpop, albeit through Japan. She got started VERY young. Taeyoung, although not actually much younger, maintains a far more active career than Boa does, and was part of the REAL begnnings of Kpop's global reach. In reality, Taeyoung is a MUCH MUCH better singer than Boa. Boa is a dancer extrodanaire however. IU cannot be left out of this conversation, as she is perhaps the most unique of the bunch. All these woman will certainly be marked as the greats. Just wait until years from now when Wendy and (especially the double threat of refined dancing and singing) Seulgi have their solo careers. They all might be considered the "great five" someday. EDIT: I apologize, I certainly should have included Hyolyn in the bunch here too--I just can't stand Sistar, but I recognize her incredible talents.
