Have you ever been camping? How was it - did you enjoy the experience? If not, would you like to go?

I took part in something called Duke Of Edinborough (DofE) on Monday and Tuesday where you must walk for 6 hours each day and camp overnight in a tent. You are only given a map and a compass and you must plan your own route to the campsite and back and you must also carry everything with you (including the tents, sleeping bag, food, clothes etc.). It was fun but we got lost on the first day and had ended up walking around 10 hours and only arrived at the campsite at 8:00 pm. My group (which contained 6 members including me) was knackered by the end of it.

The campsite itself was generally quite fun because we had to heat up and cook our own food with trangiers and we all had a nice time because we had chats and messed around a bit. It was quite cold at night but I made sure to wrap up warm so I was alright ^^

On the second day, we managed to not get lost at all and arrived 2 hours ahead of our deadline despite all the rain (yay!). It was the most satisfying feeling when we realised that we wouldn't have to walk anymore.

The trip was very tiring but ut the scenery was incredible! I saw some amazing flowers and plants. There was a field filled with purple flowers and buttercups and it was so cool how the colour scheme was naturally in nature (purple and yellow are complementary colours). There were also many animals such as sheep, cows, horses and even llamas! The manure lying everywhere wasn't exactly convenient though and we even came across a pile of cow pat as high as a house... It smelled horrible

But it made me realise how much fields and countryside there really is even just outside the city. Even within the city, there are some calm and quiet villages tucked away in secret places and it made me appreciate nature a lot more.
Overall, it was an amazing experience but my feet still hurt from all the working and my shoulders hurt from the heavy load on my back

My family goes camping every summer and I love it! I just love nature in general and being outside. If I have children I would love to camp with them.

I didn't and I don't plan to XD I'm afraid of insects and going to pee somewhere in the woods is not appealing

With my mom, stepdad, his children and my own brother. 8 total. I think we went camping for 4/5 years in a row (people got older and decided not to go anymore, also a reason why I stopped going)

It was so much fun, I really miss it sometimes
(things I didn't like: random spiders in random places. And there was a snail in one of my sneakers once when I wanted to put them on in the morning)

Couple times when i was younger, i don't remember too much from them though. I think one was summer camp where u also did one sport, so for some reason i played finnish baseball whole week although i hate baseball. Anyways it wasn't best place to camp, it was too sandy for my liking, but overall not too bad.

Yep, I was a boyscout and the biggest camping I went to was Jamboree in Yamaguchi, Japan. It was amazing.

My family has always been really into camping, it can be really fun if you find good camping sites that have loads of things for everyone to do. We always bring a bunch of board/card games as well. I think camping can be extremely relaxing (unless a stupid bug somehow gets into my tent) and I just prefer how simple camping is. The only type of camping I don't like is RV camping, it's just house on wheels and for me personally isn't real camping.
