We had luck (I still lived with my parents at that time) and only lost some roof tiles. The roof of two neighbours' houses were almost completely taken off. Back then we lived near the woods. Lothar started relatively harmless. Things got ugly when bigger parts of uprooted trees started to pass nearby our windows. We lowered all shutters and waited in the cellar until the storm was over. It was December 26, you can image what happened to all the Christmas decorations outside.

I went through a lot of different earthquakes and remember being terrified in each one

Yeah but none were that bad. A blizzard, ice storm, earthquakes (always so minor you can’t feel them), tornadoes (not directly in my town, an hour and a half away was the closest that I know of), hurricanes/tropical storms (pretty chill comparatively to other places), flooding, heat waves, lightning, and hail (which apparently both count as natural disasters for some reason). We have a pretty big variety of disasters, but we have very chill versions of all of them.

Was in Rome during the eathquake in L'Aquila so we felt it. The whole holiday our glass of water showed ripples from the aftershocks

Yes. Mostly it was either blizzards or hurricanes (but those are more like uncommon). There was the one minor earthquake that happened 3 months ago too
