i've never cut, but i have hurt myself in other ways to ground myself when my emotions got too overwhelming

Just to be clear self-harm may include other things than running a blade over your skin. I mean many assessments also include biting, pulling one's hair, hitting oneself, and snapping things against skin (i.e., rubber bands).

I have, it used to be the way I released some tension when I felt overwhelmed. I usually regretted doing it afterwards though because one of the main places I did it was my face and neck and you obviously can’t hide those kind of things very easily. I haven’t done it in almost two years, I regret doing it but it is still something I immediately consider when stressed/severely anxious.

Yes. I have a horrible habit of picking on my scabs when I get stressed or anxious.
