This happened to me yesterday. I went into a store which was pretty noisy due to the music playing in there, and on top of that I had my own headphones in. Basically I went to check out and when we were done she smiled and said something like "may God bless you", "God is your savior", etc. and some other things about God (I couldn't exactly hear everything she said because of how loud it was). All I did was awkwardly smile back and say "okay thank you" and left
This adds to reasons why I prefer self check out

I feel ya. I have those daily. I’m just not a people person I guess and some customers tend to make stupid jokes when I ask them for the receipt or something.

Me neither but the one im thinking of is more a them being creepy thing even vs me being awkward A kid was changing the light (the one that has a number for the line) and the somewhat old guy I was bagging stuff for makes a joke about whether he should be throwing dollar bills (ig he decided that it would be funny to make a pole dance joke). Which is wow enough but then he asked me if I'd get up there if he gave me a dollar and I'm like okay wow bye please go away and never come back (internally). Tbh no matter how good someones people skills are they wouldn't be able to come out of that without being creeped out. I've had other moments that were more so awkward than creepy though

It was with the corner store cashier a few days ago. I was buying lottery tickets and I realized it was supposed to be $5 instead of $3 (I realized I bought 2- $2 lottery tickets and 1- $1 lottery ticket )

It was probably when they ended greetings with a long sentence where the first or second half had no relevance with anything and I've said, "You, too", and felt very embarrassed after leaving the stores.
