In 404 there are two theories I have which still kind of connect
1. They're traveling through all the different eras of time which is why in the beginning they're little, then they're in the 2000s I assume, then they go further back to the 1900s and they say something about phones and stop performing or smth like that, then they go to the current time and they're like jet lagged from time traveling which is why it has them passing out and saying they aren't tired yet
2. They're going through different websites/timelines through the internet/webpages and are living through them and hopping to each server , which could also explain the passing out and lagging/dizziness they experienced
