lexie liu (刘柏辛), born liu yuyu (刘昱妤) is a chinese singer, producer, and songwriter. she made her debut as a public figure on kpop star 5, which she participated on during a gap year in high school, where her group mazinga's ended up in fourth place. she was offered a trainee contract to yg ent but declined, discovering that she didn't enjoy the lack of creative control as an idol. she completed school and went to fordham university for finance before returning back to music via the rap of china in 2018, also finishing fourth. she released her debut album 2030 in 2019; however, it was manta from her 2019 album meta ego that was her breakout hit. in 2020, she voiced seraphine for the league of legends song more, where she met bekuh boom through the songwriting process who she brought back for her 2022 album the happy star. apart from her own discography, she has also written songs for li yifeng and cindi wang. lexie is also active in the fashion circles and a frequent collaborator with jeremy z qin for her music videos. her music videos were funded partially by herself and partially by ysl.
as an artist, lexie liu is best known for her seamless transitions between languages — chinese and english but also spanish, sanskirt, and light language in her songs — and cyberpunk visuals. her main genres include, but are not limited to: trap, r&b, hiphop, electropop, alternative rock, dance pop, and synth wave
