One time I was at a traffic light. It was one that always took forever because it was a busy intersection. A police car was waiting to turn left on the other road. Then they turned the siren on, so everyone ofc moved over. They passed the traffic light, made their left turn, and turned the sirens off Is it possible they got an emergency call that was then taken back? Yeah I guess. But is that really likely? I don’t think so.

I was once driving in a street with a 50km/h limit. There are signs indicating it but easy to miss.
Was driving 50 when the police overtook me at around 70 km/h. Then, they did not indicate when leaving the roundabout.

I also once was returning from an event at night. Was overtaking a car on the freeway and making sure I could merge in the first lane with a safe distance when a police car came flying behind me and flickering their lights for me to move over (it was dark so i thought it was a moron who didn't want to move to the 3rd lane). Was going to flash my lights back until I saw that it was the police...

The meanest instances were when weed was technically still illegal and cops could pull you over and take your stash (when most would let you off the hook as long as you weren't high and driving).
It happened to my brother a few times.

I would see cops do this and just light it up at a Dunkin Donuts parking lot.

like if the direction and traffic is clear then they don't need emergency lights

That begs the question, why not turn them on right when they drive to the intersection? Why wait for a bit?

maybe they were just abusing their power or maybe they did really have an emergency...
