me too I hate the word stan it wasn't meant to be used like that. Most of the time I introduce myself as a fan not a stan outside kpop forums

To comment on this, it all began a few days ago when someone posted a thread where they were talking about culling down their stan list because of some random definition that some toxic fans were pushing forward. That have had me thinking and I resolved that rather than taking a random definition from a questionable "authority", I'd rather go to the original definition, so I pulled the lyrics for the "Stan" song by Eminem.

Eminem (Ft. Dido) – Stan

In this song, Eminem corresponds with a crazed fan who becomes increasingly unhinged as the story progresses. This is one of his most well-received singles and was listed at #15 on

This is the tale of a psychopath. If we were to go for this definition, only psychopaths would be "stans". So I'm thinking on just dropping the word.
