Ok i was thinking about this earlier

ok first of what is a idol

1. someone you idolise
want to be like
or
be with

2. someone who represents perfection

Too me personally i dont think Holland appears to be the "boyfriend" type at all
Yes he says i love alot on twitter
but he also posts pictures with men snuggling saying "im not his boyfriend"

I know he has appeared strong etc as a gay singer for korea
but he has stuck to the western side
not really done much to repesent lgbt in korea
and has done nothing to make me feel anyone would
want to be like him


Visually i personally dont think he is attractive.. but im ignoring that
lets say you find him attractive ok...
but you must be able to agree he does some weird shit what isnt attractive
like this hairstyle



He doesnt to me follow any rules what you would class as a idol


he talks way to much about the struggles of being gay [wait before you get annoyoed here]
Ok we all know that idols all have had struggles in there life
but the max they will talk about it is twice
and thats even at a push it be a slight talk about there past and that it
holland has based his whole career on his sexuality i can at this point name millions of idols who are lgbt and dont even mention it after coming out

he doesnt focus on improving at all
idols are known to improve in every single comeback holland just doesnt
he has no focus on the talent side of being a idol at all


He is not in the korean scene at all

OK i get that he may not be able to get on korean shows
but busking...
every starting of kpop idol has busked

but meh i really dont class him as a idol and wanted to say it​

I can give you a lot of examples with idols who are not particularly talented, who never improved and I don’t find them attractive in any sort so they aren’t idols either ?

Promoting in Korea is one thing but he is nugu and rejected by the general public. He is trying to do what he can already. I guess that his goal is to succeed by the way.

Eh, i don't think many of those things are requirements of being idols, I mean there is idols who got worse rather than improve what comes to talent and dozen idols have had weird or downright ugly hairstyles tbf weird hairstyles are rly idol thing.

Though i think Holland is more of solo artist than idol, not that plp can't be both of those things, but Holland hasn't done lot of idol things so far as i have seen, variety shows for example. But definition of idol is not set in stone. And also why i get feeling that you just don't like Holland

That doesn't answer my question. To represent means to constitute. You are claiming that idols constitute of perfection. Which is super inaccurate.

one wrong use of constitute
as i said represent and that means not fully
represent i.e
you represent kpop
doesnt mean you are kpop you are just a part of kpop
they represent what koreans class as perfection
perfect life style
perfect looks
perfect talent
like american idols represent the american dream

By your reasoning Jonghyun wasn't an idol because he talked about mental health often
Daehyun isn't an idol because many people believe his singing technique has gotten worse since their lawsuit
Hyuna and EDawn aren't idols because they're dating
Jooe, Jhope, Daesung, Shindong, and Yesung aren't idols because they aren't considered the most conventionally attractive
SM, YG, and countless otuer idols haven't busked and therefore aren't idols by your reasoning
Jonghoon, Yunho, Seungri, and a bunch of other idols arent idols because they did things that are bad

I get you dont like him but saying that he isn't an idol because of these reasons is really just you trying to find reasons to dislike him
And that's fine it just doesn't make sense because you're reaching so much in so many ways
