August has been getting better and better!
My personal faves this week is The Boyz and TAN who both released solid minis with amazing singles.
Other highlights include Jo Yuri, Jeon Somi, and Jaehyun from NCT

TAN (티에이엔; formerly 탄), short for To All Nations, is a seven-member project boy group under Think Entertainment. Formed through the MBC survival show Wild Idol, they made their debut on March 10, 2022 with the mini album Limited Edition '1TAN'.

Some good songs this week!
Fast Forward - I don't usually care for Somi but I love a good glitter bop. Everything else was a pass for me.🪩

The Boyz - Lip Gloss. I loved this song but the rest of the album was disappointing to me, which is pretty par for the course for me with The Boyz. I find their albums uneven. I think Thrilling was the last mini/album I really liked. And I really love Sangyeon's and New's voices so it sucks when I can't find a lot of great songs.

U-Know - I really thought his Noir EP was underappreciated so was looking forward to this EP but i didn't care for any of the songs on it.
Jaehyun - Horizon. I loved this but this is also perfectly in my lane and this man knows it and never disappoints - his voice, the vibe,

Jo Yuri - cute, but wouldn't listen again, which is a shame cuz I loved the hell out of Juicy juicy.

V - it's my lane but the song is mid to me, like I've heard this type of thing from better singers. Not a fan of his voice either (it's both nasal and murky on pronunciation to my ear, which is I suppose a style choice but I'm not a fan of mumbly singers.) I liked Rainy Days better but still a pass, esp with the heavy Hybe vocal effects. I appreciated on JK's solo that they dialed back that Hybe effect.

Ssign - it's going for the trendy style but doesn't have the vocals or rap skills to deliver here iMO. I've been discovering some ATBO songs that are great - but I'd previously written them off for the same reasons. Groups need to recognize if you're going for this NeoKidsTeez style you gotta have the vocals and/or rap.

Artbeat, Eric Nam - neither interested me but then I don't get the whole Eric Nam thing (a bit like the Kang Daniel thing)

Tan - ooo! I liked this - I'd check them out. When dude took it home on the bridge 👏

B-Side Recs:
Didn't care for anything else off Somi, The Boyz or U-Know's releases and none of the other picks this time. I liked the Jo Yuri bside but not enough to add to a playlist. Violet is almost there for me, wish the vocals were stronger.
