Personally, there were many comebacks that I really enjoyed.
Younite and Verivery cameback with great singles and The Wind's and Mijoo's debut catched my eye a lot.
(G)-Idle also cameback, they've been receiving more and more positive energy with each comeback.

I didn’t realize The Wind debuted

I wanted to check out the aespa cb so saw quite a few of these on the music show I watched (MuCore, I think, don’t even remember).

That GIDLE song has me in a chokehold (also yes I know soyeon’s rationale about the lyrics but man, GIDLE gets a pass for some dopey lyrics while other groups are slammed to high Heaven for theirs.)

The Wind, pass for me.
Verivery, Younite and ATBO, liked it but not enough to add to playlists.

These all had the same issue for me. The light and airy tenor voice is very popular in Kpop but for me, sometimes they feel thin and lacking a weight and richness that the best tenors have IMO (like a Doyoung or Baekhyun.) Even someone like Ten, who doesn’t have the voice of those two, has a more full voice to my ears. It’s what takes me out of a lot of bg Kpop and why tend to like SM groups so much, which tend to avoid this. (I think NCT Dream is the closest to this, which may be why I didn’t care for them previously, but their voices have filled out IMO)

there was a song I liked on the show about astronaut, but didn’t catch the name, if anyone knows.

charismatic - loved the chorus and the main vocal with the lower tones. But the rap is terrible. The rap kept it off my playlist but I’d look for more stuff from them.

Pickcat - damn, what a miss. I was feeling the vibe, the tones, the build up and then that chorus was serious anticpointment. 😔

10cm - such lovely voices, but just can’t get into their music.

N Flying - great vocals but pass.

On the bsides, I liked All Night too and added to my lists, along with Lucid.

Mijoo - Movie Star - saw this one on the music show and liked it but not enough to add.

Blackswan - Karma. Holy shit, that’s so good! I love it! Like the bside too. Both made the lists..

Oh yeah hard agree. There are so many airy voices in K-pop recently which isn't like inherently bad but the best vocalists in groups are the ones with diversity. I think another issue for me is the high range of many songs, especially gg. Many female vocalists (and male vocalists, depending on the song and range) have to hit these notes in chest which live is a recipe for problems down the road. I always worry for stayc's main vocalists and ive when they sing I am. Jongho from ateez also hits a lot of notes which I worry for. Groups with "weaker" vocalists that have a lower range should have more appreciation. As much as Gidle's music is a pass for me, I'm hella happy they're not belting left and right. I hope we can see a more diverse mix of vocalists down the track cause going high and powerful isn't everything.
