I became a fan when I saw them open for 1D the first time. Heartbreak Girl was the song that caught my attention first, and then I watched their self-made mv for Try Hard. (well, afaik it was self-made, but I could be wrong) Then, I found myself wanting to know anything and everything about them. I was pm hooked from the get-go!

I don't think I can pinpoint the exact moment I became a Swiftie, but I have been listening to Taylor Swift since I was a teen and one of my cousin was the one that introduce me to her music.

so for example one of my favs is twice and I wouldn't say I became a fan after listening to their music per se but the music was captivating enough for me to warrant further investigation so after a few of their variety content I think I became a fan

when i first became a kpop fan, i was exposed to lots of groups through those instagram pages that repost viral memes/tweets, where nct tended to feature quite often-- eventually i started getting into them beyond that 🫡 for xdiz, i'd known of them since they'd debuted, but hadn't listened to them until last year when i was trying to listen to more bands ... the release of lxve to death is when i became a full-fledged fan

Hyunjin pop up on my Twitter and fell in love with him the second I laid eyes on him then I googled to see who he was and it said stray kids and then I listen to their entire discography in 3 days brought last minute ticket for there dominATE Melbourne tour and went the week later. All happened in one week and I've never loved a artist or group that much. Stray kids were also first Kpop artist I Stan.

During stray kid concert that advertised Xdrinary here is so that's when I got into them then when I got back I got into ateez, txt etc. though I didn't become an Ateez Stan till after lemon drop. And BTS was a bit later since I got into Agust d (Yoongi) first then I was like I Stan Yoongi may as well give BTS a listen. I didn't mind them but I didn't became a massive army till ARIRANG. That album was the best album I've ever listen to. So now BTS are my ults with stray kids

But if it wasn't for suga and wasn't for Hyunjin I wouldn't of found them 😭

I used to do competative Starcraft which put me around a lot of Koreans and one of them was obsessed with Yuri from SNSD and I became a K-Pop fan through that introduction. Back then it was harder to find variety, there were no photocards and things like that so I didn't get seriously hooked until later. Years later I binged Twice content while recovering from an injury, spent about a year binging VLives and TTT, etc and that's when I became seriously into it. I went to see them in Korea as soon as I recovered and I'm still waiting for a chance to see SNSD (Hopefully next year).

Both groups will always have a special place in my heart but if we're talking fav as in favorite I'm probably the most into Itzy and Nmixx these days, it's sort of like the difference between loving a family member and a spouse. Anyway, their story is a lot less interesting as I was simply introduced through Twice as their hoobaes.

for my non-kpop faves it was mostly through the radio, when growing up i would have a radio station with 70s-80s music on the entire time and i would just go "wow this song is so good" once in a while and these songs/artists just stayed with me the whole time and likely will for the rest of my life. or through eurovision since many modern artists i listen to went there (or attempted to go).

and for kpop it was just me in like 2016 going through youtube playlists to see what songs sound good lmao and then if more than two happened to be my the same group i'd check their entire discography.

For SNSD, I was rewatching a lot of old REACT videos (back when they were called Fine Bros) back in 2016. I watched them a lot when I was kid, so I was just going down a nostalgia trip and I watched the Kids React to K-pop video. I know I had watched it before then, but apparently, nothing from it had grabbed my attention. This episode had Gee in it. I don't remember when I searched them up afterwards, but I remember enjoying Party because it reminded me of California Girls by Katy Perry and the rest was history.

For non-Kpop, I believe I first heard about Xiu Xiu when I started looking at online "music nerd" spaces. This was about three or four years ago. I don't remember what the first song I heard was (probably I Luv the Valley, Oh or Sad Pony Guerilla Girl), but this was the first song of theirs I really got into:


Kinda funny since the rest of their music doesn't sound like this at all. It definitely took time to get accustomed to their sound, but I eventually did.
I haven't seen either of them live, but I'm hoping to change that someday.
