I just can’t seem to figure out how, can I get some tips?

Practice practice practice. Also, to fix mistakes, get a qtip and put a little makeup remover on it to clean up.

if u use non-liquid, i just make small lines instead of one great big swoop. i also use a little bit of concealer to mark how long i want it to stop and to clean it up a bit

You can't be worse than I used to be, however practice makes perfect. It's been around a year and now I can draw pretty cat shaped eyes. Qtips come in handy.
If you want to start, the way which Koreans draw "puppy eyes" is easiest for the start and I started with that, but I got bored from it since it was too basic and better for monolid shaped or small eyes.
