The red scare was a wild time Though I find it interesting how many of the authoritarian governments and dictators that the US put into place were super sanitized in the US. Americans were very indeed very scared of communism, but it seems the US government thought that the fear wouldn’t be able to outweigh the human rights abuses in other countries if Americans had any clue about them.
