Every year except for 2020, we go to our grandparents' house in Texas over Christmas break and then my immediate family always has some sort of trip planned for the week of New Years.
Christmas Eve, we usually do nothing the whole day and in the evening, we always go to Papadeaux (pronounced papa-doughs), a seafood restaurant that is getting so expensive, we might not go this year. And then we go to our grandparents' Methodist church to watch a performance by the choir and sing a few songs together (my favorite is Silent Night because we get to light candles!)
On Christmas morning, we always have chocolate chip pancakes in the morning and then open presents when everyone is ready. Then in the evening is a Thanksgiving-like dinner, say our prayers and watch football.
As Christians, we also recognize the reason for the season!
