If they are doing it by their own choice then I'm ok with it but I do get worried when they keep redoing it body image issues are a scary thing to deal with


If it's the company's doing then I'm upset no matter what even if it's as simple as veneers

If they are over 18 and doing it by choice I'm OK with it. But I don't think a company should legally even be able to suggest it.

If it's their choice then it's their body so they can do what they want.

I only have a problem with it if it was forced by the company because that's something that should never be forced on someone. It's not just a physical change but a mental one as well and if someone is not ready for it then it can cause a lot of mental issues. If it goes wrong it's worse.

but also i think that if an idol has undergone any plastic surgery then they should be open about it because if they aren't that sets unrealistic beauty standards.

I couldn't care less if an idol has PS or not - it's their choice

where I differ is the definition and extent of the words "pressure" or "force" or "coercion"

noone in a company can force one to do anything without that person's consent - unless the company physically straps you to the chair and makes you go under the knife - ultimately it is still your choice

if might be a difficult choice - it might even be look "we want you to get PS otherwise you ain't debuting - THAT to me is still a choice - you made the choice to do something you love (being an idol) and in return sacrifice something else. You have the choice to not debut/ not debut with that company / seek alternative companies etc etc

Of course it isn't if everyone accepts that. I'm a realist but I hope that it'll get better. If someone told your kid that their dreams can't come true unless they do diet that harms them and they let a surgeon cut them up your just going to say "that's life". You can do better than that my friend.

I will never ever let my kid become a kpop idol
and that's my choice since I know (some of) the shit that goes on there...
if others wish to make that choice for their children - so be it that's their choice
and as I've always said if you go into the trainee life/idol life with full knowledge of what goes on then you have informed knowledge and consent but if you go into it without knowing all the (possible) shit that might happen then again that's on your for being ignorant about the industry

and I think that's where you and I differ in this regards you say I hope that it gets better
my thoughts are that sure I hope it gets better but in the meantime I'm doing everything I can to manage the status quo not change it (if that makes sense my friend???)

like selfmate said, compamnies can't "force" idols to undergo plastic surgery, the most they can do is give an ultimatum.
there are also cases where the person themselves do it just because the company told them - kyuhyun wasn't planning to get his eyes done before sm suggested it, but he decided to go through with it because he agreed it could help his career as an idol.
on the other hand, eunhyuk constantly declined getting anything done and sm didn't give a shit (even if the members constantly tease him about it... i'm really glad he didn't though, he really grew into his features).

Natural Asian women are damn beautiful, so I don't understand why most female K-Pop idols need to have faces like porcelain dolls and eyes like Anime girls. Having said that, I don't care that much - first and foremost I'm K-Pop fan because of the music.

You make a really good point I'd never thought of. I'm a firm believer in privacy, especially medical but... I wonder if knowing the price of their beauty would be a deterrent or an advertisement for ps.

I don't like it. To them it's probably normal and fine because they're brainwashed into believing that you have to fit into today's beauty standards. Koreans are their own worst critics. They only focus on outward beauty and not inner beauty. It's truly upsetting.
