I have this fear of opening gifts in front of people because people buy me gifts and then expect grand reactions from me and I do not perform well under pressure so I'm wondering how you guys handle that.

I recently was gifted a t-shirt that is 1. a color I don't own and 2. a design I don't like and I know that people say "it's the thought that counts" but why does this happen when I've had previous conversations with this person telling them not to buy me clothes because I do not like what they buy me and I've never worn anything they've bought for me ever.

I appreciate the thought and effort put into it. If there's something I don't like or have a need for it, then I'll give it to someone who will put it into good use instead. :) In general, I think gift cards and money are the safest gifts to give anyone. No disappointment there.

When something like this happens, my thoughts are "you don't really care". It's revealing on how the gifter is.
