I say that things are about x number of minutes away as opposed to the distance in kilometres​

if you're saying how far then it's kms or miles

How far is what I’m asking. Like I will say the store is a five minute drive away.

then kms or miles...since the words used are "far" instead of long????
(or at least that's how I interpret it - it may be different in canada compared to down under though)
