I think it'd be better for the environment. Like spend your money however you want, but it pisses me off when I see those pictures that are just piles of albums in the trash. I almost wish companies would find a way for people to purchase completely virtual albums just to stave off spending resources to put it into a landfill.

But what's more likely to happen is that companies would go back to doing those reissue albums where it's basically the same as the original album, minus one or two songs and plus one or two new songs. Get around the hypothetical rule as cheaply as possible. I was so mad when I bought Big Bang's Alive and then they turned around and released Still Alive.
