How has your ult(s) music evolved over the years? (1 Viewer)

Is it drastically different? Does it still sound like something they first debuted with? Do you prefer their new music direction? Or has it stayed similar throughout time?

I think both Ateez and Seventeen still keep elements of their earlier releases. Seventeen still has brighter/youthful songs within their bsides, and I don’t think Ateez’s music has changed too much tbh, I think they’ve just developed their sound throughout the years and made it more defined if that makes sense?
BTS is definitely the ult of mine that has changed drastically over the year’s music wise. Going from No More Dream to Yet To Come is a huge difference. I think it’s been a while since they’ve released something that’s reminded me of their old stuff but I do still like some of their newer music but tbh I listen to their older albums more than their newer.

For TXT, the difference between Crown and Sugar Rush Ride is pretty drastic. I mean, Crown is poppier, and SRR is more rock. I'm not complaining, though - it's just what it is. lol

They’ve really dipped their toes in a lot of different genres that’s for sure.

If cravity's discography was a high school kid then they would jump from clique to clique every single album drop. Their music can really be all over the place imo, but that's like my guilty pleasure I guess

Yes, it has. Not as drastically as some other groups, but I think it definitely has.

I think EXO's music has evolved with the times, as well as their ages. The themes are darker or more adult than just teenage puppy love and all of them are stronger vocalists (esp the sub vocalists). But I don't think musically, there is a large change in style.

NCT 127 has always had a diverse and varied disco. They too are creating more adult music and leaning much heavier into the r&B and less into the pop and EDM elements in their early disco, so I think in some ways they are very different than their early albums, yet it still feels quintessentially them. (They too are more experienced and better vocalists and rappers.)

WayV has always evolved to tackle more complex music as well as their own specific style. They of all the groups show the most growth as vocalists.

NCT Dream is very different and has more obviously matured their sound and style (although the Candy album shows they can still do their old one if they choose). I also think some of the weaker rappers have crafted a serviceable style - Jeno, Jaemin and Jisung will never be the strongest NCT rappers, but I think Jeno in particular has developed a style that really works for him.

Purple Kiss is still too new.

I like her experimenting with different genres and her voice is pretty when singing.

Well, my ults have essentially not changed genres. The music has evolved within it. However, the most drastic change happened after the first year when they changed the genre and overall concept from their debut one to the genre they have had over the years. So a drastic change, and then stability.
