What's the baseline?

How many countries or areas does a person need to know to be considered an educated human being (in your opinion)?

So yeah, geography is overrated.

If one does the job very well, nobody will care about that a lot.

Being educated comes in all sorts of different ways. Not just on what you know and don't imo.
But in staying on topic.

I would say a decent amount would be required as a baseline or average.

Well I study Tourism so of course I have to learn the major cities and the location of every country.
I just think it depends. If you do a job and meet a person from abroad, of course it's a good idea to know where it is located so you don't embarrass yourself.
I think you should at least know the most important countries (seriously, there are a few people who think Belgium is a city when it's the heart of the European Union and don't even know where it is located)

it really depends. the field I am working in needs geographical knowledge so some basics are really important to me... and not even that but knowin about climate, about what certain places offer is surely benefical
