well as you may or may not know I'm Chinese so I prefer C-dramas since I understand the language and all that so the only reason I watched snowdrop was because of Jisoo

it was good but I wouldn't say that good

I'll give you one of each based on my opinion

contemporary - Ode to Joy Seasons 1 and 2 - three and four and upcoming five have different actors and gone to shit
period - The Story of Minglan
historical - Qin Dynasty Epic
xianxia - Three Lives, Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms
wuxia - Nirvana in Fire and Joy of Life

for the fiction that is the game of thrones - you can't get past actual chinese history

(obviously once they made it into a tv show it's romantized or dramatised but it's still based on actual history)
