For a long time now the topic of if humans should be allowed to become gods. Should humans be allowed to resurrect species that died out, Should humans be allowed to extend their lifespan beyond their natural years, should we be allowed to enhance ourselves beyond our natural abilities etc.

I think whether we decide we shouldn't be allowed to do that or whether we decide to go ahead, we will be gods either way.

If we take our own personal morals and apply them to everyone else around us by banning these things... Is this not playing god already?
Is this not taking the place of a god by deciding we know better, that we ARE better.

Not to mention that even if it is banned, it won't stop people researching these things illegally, leading to these techs being used by criminals, leading to governments ALSO resorting to using them. Leading to them becoming more and more common.

I think my view with me being alright with humans becoming gods in the enhancements sense is quite rare. But I personally... don't think it would be wrong to enhance an unborn babies abilities. To resurrect animals etc.

If these decisions end up backfiring, then It's bcs it was a bad decision and not bcs they were morally wrong.
I don't think there are any universal morals that everyone should live by.

Everything else i'm a bit more passive with, but this one just pisses me off. I think it's okay if we resurrect species that only very recently died out if for example it was endangered in the first place due to poaching. I 100% do not support resurrecting species that are 1000s of years old. People trying to clone the woolly mammoth really piss me off, the only reason they're doing it is just to say that they did it, but the reality is that the ecosystem has moved on from them, the climate is in a totally different state and still changing at an alarming rate, it is so cruel to try and resurrect a species that no longer belongs in our current environment and would not have a fighting chance of survival. I feel like resurrecting the woolly mammoth is almost equivalent to killing lions for trophies, like there's no reason for it, you don't gain anything for it, and the only reason you're doing it is literally just to say that you did.

Because they're not built for living now, even if a zoo were to create the perfect climate for them to live in an enclosure that still isn't fair to the species, they would never truly get to exist because you can't just take a species, plop them into a wild habitat, and expect them to adapt just like that because no species or ecosystem can adapt that fast to each other so it's essentially bringing them back just so they can go extinct again, or to exist solely in captivity.

but in the zoo case... This is that it would go against YOUR morals. I also think that it's impossible for something like this to be fair or unfair to a species. A specie doesn't have a collective understanding of we wouldn't want this or would want this. For them it would not matter if they continue to be extinct or continue to have a few specimens in a zoo.

aren't all species selfish? I think humans think themselves ABOVE the other species and we expect more of ourselves than other animals. But does a Wolf care about a rabbits opinion? Do other species change their ways as fast as we are demanding of ourselves?

Maybe it is just my own morals, but it still makes me feel really sad that it's a real possibility for a species to be brought back to purely exist only in captivity, I wouldn't really call that an existence, not a real one. I don't believe in any gods or anything spiritual, but I feel like nature still does what it does best, we should learn from it, but unless we're struck with tragedy we should take a step back for the most part and let it be, life has been learning and evolving for possibly 4.5 billion years, humans have only been around for 7 million, i'd say we still have a lot of learning to do before we can try and take over the role of nature.

Surviving is not being selfish. We used to survive but now we just live and take advantage of what we have. In some cases, others have less and are still fighting to survive. They understand what it means to appreciate what they're given because other humans take.
