source: HYBE Merges With Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings—The Company Behind Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande & More

If I understood right Ithaca Holdings will become subsiary of HYBE. Ithaca Holdings includes Scooter's entertainment company that has Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato.

Bang Si hyuk and Scooter Braun both stated they want to break down cultural barriers and revolutionaze music industry. Maybe this means more collabs between korean and western artist included. Maybe sth more.

My reaction to this was: Bighit was this rich? :pepeslippy:

Yup. They also got Label Source Music and Gfriend earlier. I guess that's Bighit's- or HYBE's tactic to became big three- to acquire the other companies rather than keep debuting more artists of their own.

business-wise interesting tactic, but the romantic in mean says "wow, the capitalism here really smells fishy". after all, such a big company will become monotone. no matter how much they claim to "let other companies be independent" I´m pretty sure, sooner or later they will start having their say in Pledis management etc. How will that affect music? Will Seventeen become just another carbon copy of BTS? How soon will HYBE start getting tired of being "just a shareholder" and how soon will their producers want to stretch their arms? I don´t want to be sceptical, but that´s what power usually does to people :D.

That is one worry when sth like this happen. In smaller company the focus is more on artists they got. Especially less popular artist within can get left behind a bit and their individuality not focused as much.
